On the road to the LPGA – 2013 Symetra Tour/Four Winds Invitational June 21-23, 2013
Last evening we attended the Sponsor Appreciation Reception and Dinner at the new Silver Creek Event Center in the Four Winds Hotel & Casino in conjunction with the Four Winds Invitational. The Four Winds Invitational will be back again to the South Bend Community for the 2nd year. The Four Winds Invitational tournament one of the stops on the 2013 Symetra Tour–Road to the LPGA will be held on June 21-23, 2013 at top-rated Blackthorn Golf Club. Blackthorn is rated 4-1/2 stars by Golf Digest’s “Places To Play” and is certainly a must play golf course this year.
The Tournament was moved from August to June as it fits in better with the LPGA’s Symetra Tour schedule. The purse for this event is again $150,000 which is the largest purse in the history of the Tour. Proceeds raised last year amounted to $53,000 and were donated to the Memorial Children’s Hospital in South Bend the official charity of the event. Volunteer opportunities are available, a great way to give back … and it’s a blast to watch how good these young women golfers area.
I had the opportunity to tour the banquet facilities with Tim Adams, Sales and Catering Manager at Four Winds. Wow! What beautiful space for an 800+ person banquet or less. The room can be divided into several smaller event spaces perfect for weddings. The reception area is stunning and a full bar is available in the reception area. The staff could not have been nicer!
The new Silver Creek Event Center is definitely the place for concerts featuring headliner entertainment plus conferences and special events. The theatre holds 1600 and hosts top name entertainers such as Little Big Town coming March 8 (sold out unfortunately) and B.B. King on April 6. The 400+ hotel is connected so you can enjoy a great evening of entertainment and then spend the night!
The hotel and casino are in the heart of New Buffalo, Michigan — just steps away from the downtown New Buffalo, Michigan area with great shops, restaurants, sandy beaches and a quaint nautical community.
It’s a quick drive from downtown Chicago and if you haven’t been to the area yet, I would recommend playing these fabulous golf courses in the area: Blackthorn Golf Club, Warren Golf Course at Notre Dame, Whittaker Woods Golf Club, Harbor Shores and Lake Michigan Hills. There are plenty of hotels in the New Buffalo and South Bend areas as well as the St. Joe area.
