Tickets Available Now for the 2016 UL International Crown at Rich Harvest Farms

LPGA stars Belen Mozo and Minjee Lee joined corporate sponsors and local dignitaries to help kick off the “One Year Countdown” to the LPGA’s 2016 UL International Crown at host-site Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove.

Mozo, a member of Team Spain, which won the inaugural International Crown at Caves Valley Golf Club outside Baltimore in 2014, and Lee, a member of Team Australia at last year’s event, said the championship appeals to the competitive spirit and national pride of the 32 players who will qualify to play for eight country-based teams.

“Any time you have the opportunity to play for your country, it is something very special,” said Mozo. “Team Spain wasn’t among the favorites going in last time, but we believed in ourselves, fought hard, supported one another and wound up on top in the end. It was a spectacular event.”

The LPGA announced the addition of a third Ambassador-level sponsor. Constellation joins Rolex and Calamos Investments at the Ambassador level along with UL as title sponsor.

“We are thrilled to welcome Constellation as a new Ambassador sponsor,” LPGA Commissioner Michael Whan said. “Having UL as our title sponsor along with Rolex, Calamos and Constellation as Ambassador sponsors provides the UL International Crown with the kind of stability it requires to reach its potential as a great team women’s golf event with worldwide relevance.”

The LPGA also announced Monday that the dates for teams and players to qualify for the 2016 UL International Crown have been changed. The field of eight countries will be determined by the combined Rolex World Ranking of the top four players from each country as of the Rolex World Rankings published Monday, April 4 following the 2016 ANA Inspiration. The four players who will be competing for each pre-qualified country will not be finalized until the Rolex World Rankings published Monday, June 13 following the conclusion of the 2016 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.

“The dates for both the countries and players to qualify for the 2016 UL International Crown were moved closer to the event in an effort to deliver the top countries and to allow the players who are playing the best golf closest to tournament time to take part,” said Whan.
