Glenview, Ill. – June 20, 2018 – The Illinois PGA announced that it will host a Women’s Team Skills Challenge event at Twin Orchard Country Club in Long Grove, Ill. on Thursday, June 28th to coincide with the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship that kicks off the same week across the street at Kemper Lakes Golf Club in Kildeer, Ill.

Participation in the event is open to women aged 21 and up who will compete in teams of three to four players from the same club or facility. Registration must be completed by an Illinois PGA Member and participants should contact their local PGA Professional to get a team registered.

The Women’s Team Skills Challenge is similar to the Drive, Chip, and Putt Championship for young golfers seen televised the Sunday before the Master’s Tournament. Participants will compete against each other in a team format testing driving, chipping, and putting skills, with the top three scores in each skill counting towards the team total.

“We are excited to host this event in conjunction with the excitement surrounding the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship,” said Carrie Williams, executive director of the Illinois PGA. “Women’s golf has seen tremendous growth recently both locally and nationally, and we want to continue to provide opportunities across the Chicagoland area that showcase that the fun, social aspect of golf complement skills development at any level.”

A continental breakfast and Bloody Mary bar will be provided to all contestants beginning at 8:00am, with the skills challenge set to begin at 9:00am. Following the skills challenge, entrants will receive one complimentary ticket to the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, contested at Kemper Lakes Golf Club. A shuttle bus will provide transportation to and from each location.

Interested participants should contact their local PGA Professional or Catherine Wagner, Illinois PGA, at CWagner@pgahq.com or (847) 729-5700 with any further questions.
