New Renovations Restore Course to Outstanding Quality

ITASCA, Ill. – The grass may not always be greener on the other side, but the newly renovated Eaglewood Resort & Spa golf course certainly is. The wooded, scenic Eaglewood 18-hole Golf Course, located 35 miles west of Chicago in Itasca, Ill., is back to excellent condition with lush fairways that promote outstanding play for even the most discriminating golfers.

After multiple years of renovation, the newly reconditioned Golf Club at Eaglewood marks a return to the quality and playability of years past. Stately 100-year-old oak trees frame the lush, green fairways that reward players with accurate fairway play thanks to lower height cut of grass. The green collars have also been transitioned over the past year to become a part of the greens, giving the player more opportunity to take advantage of scoring.

“Our restoration process included a heavy top dressing on our greens prior to the harsh winter that has allowed our course to rebound quickly for outstanding play,” said Andy Carr, director of golf at the resort. “I have no doubt players will really enjoy the beauty and much improved conditions at our course. We’ve also reintroduced a time honored Eaglewood Resort tradition, the ringing of the bell, marking the completion of the renovation process.”

The bell marked the fourth hole at the Eaglewood golf course beginning in 1928. The fourth hole was designed to be a blind tee shot and the bell was initially placed on the green for golfers to ring upon approach so that the next group would know it was safe to tee off.

Eaglewood Resort Completes Golf Course Renovation/Add One

The restoration compliments the multi-million dollar renovation process of the
past few years that added more water, more definition and additional length to the course. Giving definition and character to the narrow, contoured fairways and smooth bent grass greens are 69 bunkers offering several elevation changes from tee to green on the par-72 Eaglewood course. Severely sloping greens earn the course the nickname of “The Little Green Menace.” Boasting 6,017 yards and a signature island green 6th hole, the tight course provides a competitive round. The renovations combined with this year’s beautiful restoration ensure that The Golf Club at Eaglewood will make all other courses green with envy.

“The Eaglewood course combines a scenic course with enjoyable play, minutes away from Chicago,” said Tom Garcia, general manager for the resort. “The course is perfect for both beginners, as well as aficionados.”

Beyond the course itself, golfers can enhance their stay at Eaglewood with a “Golfers Therapy Massage”. The SPA at Eaglewood offers this 60 minute treatment for only $98*per person exclusively for weekend golf package guests.
